Book Display

We read a story called, 'First Day Jitters'.  It was about a teacher who was facing a change.  Mrs Hartwell was going to a new school and she felt a little nervous.  When she walked into her classroom she took one look at the lovely children and she soon felt excited about starting the year at a new school.

Enjoy looking at the display we made about the story.

Junior Sports

After morning tea we went to the field to enjoy a variety of different games.  We had ten minutes on each activity then we moved to the next one.  There was such a variety of activities for the children to enjoy.

Junior Breakfast

The children came to school at half past 7 on Friday 22 February for their breakfast.  They had cereal, toast and juice.  When they finished breakfast they washed their dishes and got dressed.  Then they brushed their teeth and washed their face.  It was wonderful to see the children early in the morning.  They did so much before the bell rang to start their school day.
Here are some pictures of our very exciting morning.

Ready to start the day.

Thank you to Mrs Willats and Mrs Vincer for their support.

Maths - Graphing

We have been looking closely at a variety of graphs and interpreting the data.  We worked on two bar and five bar graphs then we learned about tally charts.

The children had fun designing their own graphs about colours and the chairbags in our classroom.

Butterflies

The monarch butterfly has many changes in its life cycle.  See if you can find all the changes.
Mrs Munro is coming to work with Room 4 on Inquiry Learning.  We are going to find out more information about butterflies.

Mrs Munro came to our classroom and we looked at the life cycle of the butterfly.  Then we went to our school intranet site and found some information to share about the butterfly.  We also looked at the parts of the butterfly.  What an exciting time we all had.

This is Mrs Munro working with Room 4

Some of the information we found out:
*The caterpillar nibbles through the eggshell.
*When the caterpillar has grown too big for its skin the skin splits because it becomes too tight.
*The caterpillar uses its ten back legs to move around and it has six front legs to help it feed.
*The caterpillar will shed its skin four times.
*The chrysalis has tiny holes to let air in and out.
*When the chrysalis splits the butterfly crawls out.
*The butterfly dries its wings in the sunshine.

Here are some pictures and information about the butterfly.  These were done in the ICT Suite.

In this video the children are designing a variety of butterflies.

The children wrote their information about butterflies on pages and saved their work.

Writing in Room 4

We have three groups during our writing time.  We discuss the learning intention and the success criteria.  This is displayed clearly on the interactive board for all the children to see.  Each group gets an opportunity to work with the teacher and discuss their individual goal.  Another group works independently on their writing and the third group publishes their work.

Have a look at our class in action.

ICT Suite

We went to the ICT Suite and the children created a picture on Kidpix.  They used many colours and a background.  When they had completed their picture they wrote their name and then saved their work.  The children were all very proud of their work.
Have a look at some of them.
