Interviewing Mr Paul - Thursday 29 February

We talked about what we wanted to find out about Mr Paul and we wrote down our questions.  Mr Paul is our new property manager.  He came on Thursday 29 February to our classroom and we asked him our questions.
This is what we found out.
Mr Paul really loves his job.
His first job at Point View School was to unblock a toilet.
Mr Paul likes to go for a walk in the morning, then he gets ready for school.
He comes to school at 6:30am or 7 o'clock in the morning.
Mr Paul keeps his office locked as he has lots of tools in the office and chemicals.
He has a hobby and that is to walk his dog Molly who is seven years old.  He got Molly when she was a puppy.
Mr Paul said that we can help him by checking that there is no rubbish at Point View School.  Also, if we see something that needs fixing then we should tell a teacher on duty so they can let Mr Paul know.
He meets Mr Kirkham every Thursday and they talk about what needs fixing at Point View School.
In Mr Paul's office he has lots of manuals that tell him how to use special tools and machinery.
Mr Paul uses his laptop and he records all the jobs that have been done to keep the school safe.
He said that everyone is lovely at Point View School and the children are so kind and caring.
Mr Paul said that it is really important that we all respect our school.

We made a chart about Mr Paul's visit.
The students wrote about Mr Paul's visit.  Here is some of their writing for you to enjoy.

Today, Wednesday 13 March, we are going to present Mr Paul with a book for him to keep.  Inside are all the stories that the students wrote about his visit.

Mr Paul came into our classroom today and we gave him his book from us.

Environment Class with Mrs Hilder

 Environment Class with Mrs Hilder

Today the students worked with Mrs Hilder.

First the students EXPLORED.  Room 4 went exploring a with Mrs Hilder around the school on a garden scavenger hunt.

Then they had HANDS ON experiences.  They learnt what seeds need to grow, how to care for plants and why they are so important.  Then they learnt about seeds and planted their own carrot and lettuce seeds.

Then they REFLECTED on their learning for the day.  They did a sequence of how to plant a seed and discussed how to care for their seeds.

The students took their seeds home.  It will be fun for them to watch them grow.

Enjoy looking at the photos:

Here is a video showing some of the exciting experiences:
