RockUp

On 29 April the children in Room 4 had a wonderful experience with RockUp.  RockUp create positive attitudes and fun experiences.
The children were involved in a variety of amazing activities.

Volcano Adventure
The children worked in teams and moved through a huge inflatable volcano.  When they finished they tagged the next person in their group to have a turn.

Giant Earthball
They enjoyed moving on the earthball from one side of the hall to the other.  This was all about supporting a member from your team.

Ski Board Challenge
A group of children put their feet into the straps on the ski board and as a team they had to move from one side to the other.  You could hear, "One, two, three, slide."

Rock Wall
The children were clicked into a harness and this was checked before they went on the rock wall.  It was wonderful to see the children supporting each other by cheering them on as they climbed the wall.

Science in the Hall

Thursday 23 April
Today we had such an enjoyable afternoon working with children from the senior school.  The children were in small groups and they moved around the various activities and listened to the older children sharing their science knowledge and then they had an opportunity to work through the experiements and share their findings.
Have a look at the photos I took of the children in action:

Science in a Van

Allan and Emily came back to Point View School to share some exciting experiments with us.
Allan got a large ball and put a small ball on top and dropped the ball together to see what happened.
We had to think like scientists to share what we thought might happen.
We leaned that a force was created and gravity was pulling the ball down.  The force gets passed to the small ball and the small ball bounced off the stage and the large ball stayed on stage.

Then Emily showed us a large board with nails that was put on a chair.  One of the teacher's went on stage and he sat on the board.  He said that he could feel it a little bit.
We put our scientists hats on and learned that the force was spread out so it wouldn't hurt as much as we thought.  How interesting!!!!

Physical Education

Kelly Sports visited Point View School to work with the children.
They introduced a variety of activities and the children had a wonderful time.  These activities involved running, jumping, catching, throwing, passing, kicking and striking.
Here are some photos of our time with them.
