Trip to the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple

Trip to the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple
What an amazing trip we had at the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple.
They showed us the huge bell and drum and every day the bell is struck two times.  The first time is at 6:30am as a reminder of the new day.  They talked about the three acts of goodness and these are: speaking good words, thinking good thoughts and doing good deeds.  We touched the mondo grass and noticed that it springs back up.  The message was if we are sad when the grass springs back up it leaves all our sadness behind.  We went to the wishing well and if we wanted to we could make a wish.  The children made a lotus flower as a thank you to the teachers and parents.  We were able to write down a wish and put it on the wall.  Then we went to bathe Buddha and we thought of doing good deeds, saying good words and thinking good thoughts.  The police talked to us as well about making sure our friends are included in our games.  The children were given a chime and thier lotus flower to take home and treasure forever.

Technology with Mr Rankin - Coding

Technology with Mr Rankin - 28th and 29th May

Mr Rankin worked with the children in Room 4.  They were working on programming or coding.  The children designed a lego model of a fan and they worked on controlling the speed of the fan,  the timing of it and also the sound of it.  Thank you Mr Rankin and the parent helpers.

Autumn Leaves

Autumn Leaves
The children enjoyed sharing books about autumn leaves and looking at the variety of leaves within our school.  We talked about their shapes and colours.  The students designed many pencil sketches of autumn leaves and then they used one of their designs to enlarge.  They used pastels and blended the colours.  After this they wrote about autumn leaves.  They went to full school assembly and shared their amazing work.
Enjoy looking at some of their work:
