Our Flower Art

WOW!!!!  The children a great time designing their flower art.
Room 4 looked at the work of Kandinsky.  He was a well known abstract artist.  He concentrated on colour and design.
After our visit to Te Tuhi we focused on primary, secondary and tertiary colours.  Then we looked closely at warm and cold colours.

We designed a background with paint and used different objects to create texture.  Then we designed our flowers from warm or cold colours.  We looked closely at the colour wheel to help us choose the colours to use.
When they finished their art they wrote a descriptive piece about their flowers.
Enjoy looking at some of their work:
My flowers have beautiful, glittering colours that make them alive.  They can dance across the wind in a musical pattern.

The flowers stay very still on the branches.  My flowers dance beautifully.

My beautiful flowers are waving in the breeze.  They are shimmering in the wonderful sunlight.

My flowers are fluttering form side to side.  Droplets come from high in the sky and they drop down gracefully on the smooth petals.  The petals dance in the cold breeze.

My flowers are dancing down to the sunlight, sparkling at the smooth, soft ground.  It is amazing.

We shared our beautiful flower art at a Junior assembly.

Our Trip to the Museum 24/5/16

Our Trip to the Museum 24/5/16
What an amazing time we had at the museum.
We had a tour of all the galleries and we found some really interesting items.  Please ask your child to tell you about the things they saw.  Then we went to the Learning Lab and we were met by a group of people who talked to us about Matariki.  The children then made cards or did some weaving.
Enjoy looking at the photos:

Our Visit to Te Tuhi

Room 4 went to Te Tuhi and we focused on the secrets of colour, mixing and painting.  Our tutor Jeremy talked about the primary, secondary and tertiary colours.  The children designed their own colour wheel using paint.  Then we had a look at a variety of different art around the gallery.
We all had a wonderful time.
Enjoy looking at the photos of our experiences.

Here are some stories about our amazing trip.
Click on the green arrow and you can hear the children reading their stories.

Kelly Sports - Golf

Coach Declan from Kelly Sports came to Point View School.  The children had lots of fun rolling balls to a particular target and then they used clubs.  We have three other sessions with the coach so I will share some more exciting photos with you.

This week Coach Declan revised how to hold a club.  The children got to use a putter club and a launcher club.  They had lots of fun working in small groups using the golf clubs and moving the ball to a target.

We vistied Declan in the hall because of the cold weather and had some more golf fun.  The children worked on using their golf club to hit a target.  Then they had to go over the target and try and hit a cone.  It was tricky but lots and lots of fun!

The children had another session with Declan.  We were on the school field and the children worked on hitting a target.  The target had a base to it and a flag flying.  Then Declan put on a target suit and the children enjoyed using him as their target.
They have had so much fun learning all about golf.
