Auckland Museum

We had a great trip to the Auckland Museum.  What a lot of things to see.
We had a special scavenger hunt, we worked as a team to find out as much as we could about what was at the museum.
We visited the volcano area and saw different types of rocks.  There was a volcanologist's suit on display and it was silver.  
We went to see what Auckland was like in 1866.  There were many shops and we could see all the different things they used years ago.  There has been a lot of changes!

St John Ambulance Visit

We had a visit from Sue who works as an ambulance officer.  She helps people who are not well and need to go to hospital.  Melissa and Xavier got to dress just like an ambulance officer.  Sue brought Ambi, the ambulance.  The children got to listen to the sound of the siren.  They worked in pairs to put a bandage on each other.

Inquiry Learning - Guide Dogs

Mrs Munro came into our classroom to work with Room 4.  
First we read a book about guide dogs and did some research.  We recorded information about the following questions:
What are the qualities of guide dogs? Why are they special?
What do quide dogs do?

Then we decided if we wanted to research about dog trainers, handlers or puppy walkers.  We read some information and highlighted six facts about the topic we chose.  Using Kidspiration we made a chart, using a title and bubbles.  Then we found some pictures that went with our information.

What an amazing day we had.  After morning tea we went out onto the field and ran in our year groups.  All the children participated and had such an enjoyable day.  The weather was perfect!
