STEM with Mr Rankin - Coding

STEM with Mr Rankin - Coding - Wednesday 30 June

Today the students in Room 4 worked with Mr Rankin.

First the students designed a fan using lego.  Then it changed into a fun fair activity.  The students coded it to make it move, how exciting!!

After that they made Milo, the robot and with coding they made it move.  They also used sounds in their coding as well.

Thank you to the parent helpers who attended the session, you were amazing.

Working on PicCollage

The students worked in pairs and they enjoyed focusing on PicCollage.  They wrote about a topic that interested them, found pictures to put around their information and then created a background.

Here are some photos of their sharing time:

This is what Angelica and Angelina created:

Working with our Buddy Class

 Friday 25 June

Today we met our Year 5 buddy class and they showed us their bridges that they built.  It was a wonderful opportunity for the students to listen to their buddy about how they made them and the students in Room 4 asked questions about their work.

Busy Bees

 Busy Bees

Room 4 came to school dressed in yellow and black because it is Bees Awareness Week.  We were celebrating the importance of bees.  Without bees we wouldn't be able to eat some of the food we enjoy.  Alicia won a jar of honey from our Point View School raffle.

Enjoy watching this video about bees.

Koru Art

 Koru Art

The students looked at a variety of koru patterns.

The koru is a symbol in Maori that displays new life, growth, strength and peace.  Then we  they sketched some interesting patterns and chose the one to enlarge. They used pastel with their art.  Some of the students focused on blending colours and adding other shapes to their work.

Enjoy looking at some of their work:

We shared our koru art at our full school assembly.
