Junior Breakfast and Tabloid Sports

What an great day we had.  The children came to school at 7:30 in their pyjamas and then moved to their classroom.  We had breakfast together which was really special.  The children washed their dishes and then had a wash.  They changed into their shorts and t-shirts and were ready to start the day.

After morning tea we had tabloid sports.  The children were involved in a variety of exciting activities including, skipping, parachute and balls, spoon and potato, hurdles, moon hoppers and sack races.

They had a wonderful time working together and enjoyed all the activities.

The chidren wrote about themselves and their families.  They illustrated their writing and it was displayed as a chart.

Science in a Van - Bubbles

We had a visit from two people from 'Science in a Van'.  They came to talk to us about bubbles.  

They made a variety of different sized bubbles and even bubbles inside bubbles!!!  They talked about what mixture means and this is what you make to be able to blow bubbles.  They used water and dishwashing liquid as their first mixture.  Then they added oil to this mixture and asked the children to make a prediction or guess what will happen.  Ask your child what happened.  They also made a mixture of baking soda and vinegar and when it was mixed together the children discussed the reaction as foaming.

Some children from Room 4 were selected to help them with their experiments.

Buddy Reading

The children met their buddy as we have buddy reading each week.  It is a wonderful opportunity for the children in Room 4 to have a special friend from the middle school to read to and to listen to them reading stories.
