 STEM with Mr Rankin

Today the students went to STEM and worked with Mr Rankin.  STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

The students met a robot called Meccanoid and Mr Rankin programmed him to follow instructions.

They worked in small groups and designed their own roller coaster, using lego.  After they built it they worked on coding.  The students focused on movement, timing, adding sound and changing the direction of their roller coaster.

In the afternoon they designed their own Spy Robot, using step by step instructions.

Autumn

They worked on their own autumn art.  They used pastels and they blended their colours.

Peter Rabbit - Drama

Peter Rabbit - Drama

On Friday 1 April the students worked with Mrs Oldham who is our drama specialist.

The students listened to The Tale of Peter Rabbit.  Then they began to move like a rabbit.  They discussed how each character felt at certain parts of the story and discussed how they would move. They worked on miming different parts of the story.

The students made a rabbit headband and they visited the hive.  They marked out areas to be Peter's house, the vegetable garden, blackberry trees and the shed.  They moved around the space as rabbits using imagination, saying hello to these things.  The students were given specific roles and they discussed how they felt.

Then the students returned to the classroom to work on role play, story retelling, dance, construction and  design.

They designed their own story map.
