Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day
What a wonderful day we all had with the grandparents.  They came into our classroom and the children welcomed them and read a poem to them about grandparents.

Then we discussed our classroom blog and invited the grandparents to view our blog as it shows many activities that we have done throughout the year.  Please ask your grandchild if you are unsure of the address as they will let you know.  The children read a story to the grandparents and then they illustrated their poem and the grandparents helped them.  After that we did folk dancing in the junior area and then had morning tea.  After morning tea we had a show in the school hall and that was very exciting too.
Thank you so much for coming to Point View School.
Please enjoy looking at all the photos:

20/10/16 Constable Merv's Visit

20/10/16 Constable Merv's Visit

Constabe Merv came to Room 4 to talk about road safety.  He told us the following things:
*You cross the road with your parents.
*Make sure you stop before crossing the road.
*Look for cars and trucks on the road.
*Look right, left and right before you cross the road.
**When it is safe to walk with your parents please walk across the road, do not run.
*You must be very sensible when you are crossing the road.
*It is very important to cross at the lights by Point View School.  Red means stop and green means go.
*A zebra crossing is a good place to cross, make sure the cars have stopped before your cross with your parents.
*You must wear a seatbelt when you are in the car.
*It is important to use a booster seat in the car if you are 148cm tall or less.

We practised crossing the road with Constable Merv.  Here are some photos for you to enjoy:

We talked about being careful of sneaky driveways.  Make sure you check them when you are walking on the footpath.

Collage Art

Collage Art
The children in Room 4 had lots of fun designing their own sealife creature.  They used magazines to find the colours that they wanted.  The children looked carefully at the colour wheel to find the colours that worked well together.  After that they focused on the background, using complementary colours.  Then the children wrote a creative piece of writing about their art.
Thank you very much for bringing the magazines to school for the children to use.
Here are some samples for you to enjoy:
