Sunset Art

Sunset Art
The children found out about sunset.  At sunset, there is less adn less light.  The sky slowly gets darker.  It does not go dark suddenly like switching off a light.  Sometimes we see interesting colours in the sky.  We went to google images and looked at a variety of buildings at night and what the sky could look like.
The children used paint to show the colours of the sky and then they used black paper to design some buildings at night.
Enjoy looking at them:

We all showed our art at the full school assembly on 1/4/16

Stardome Trip

I hope you enjoyed watching the short video of our trip to the Stardome. We visited the Space Room where we listened to a talk by one of the staff there about the sun, moon and earth. We visited the Space Gallery in small groups and explored the displays and exhibits. The children completed a fact-finding quiz on an iPad. Then we went into the Planetarium. We watched a night sky presentation along with a feature show about what we see in space. The children enjoyed having lunch at Cornwall Park. It certanly was a very exciting trip.

Sophie's Bunny Rabbit

Sophie's Bunny Rabbit
What a beautiful bunny rabbit Rose is.  She is ten weeks old and eats corn, hay and spinach.  Sophie's mother came into our classroom this afternoon and the children asked lots of questions about Rose.  Rose lives in a hutch and she is a very gentle bunny.  She loves playing with her toy corn.  Rose is a mini lop rabbit.
What a cute little bunny she is.  We can tell Sophie just loves her and cares for her really well.

Life Education Caravan

Pamela from the Life Education Caravan invited us into her caravan to talk about 'Food for Energy'.  She talked to us about the food pyramid and the types of food we should eat lots of every day, the food we should eat some of every day and the food we should eat only a little sometimes.  She discussed the importance of eating a balanced diet and how a balanced diet makes us feel.
Enjoy looking at the photos:

Buddy Reading

The children in Room 4 meet their buddy class on Friday.  It is a wonderful opportunity for the children to meet someone in a senior school and regularly share a book together.  Our buddy class is Room 26.
Here are some photos of the experience.

The Monarch Butterfly

We had a caterpillar on our swan plant and we watched it very carefully.  One morning we noticed there was a chrysalis on the plant.  We were all very excited about this.  One Monday morning the chrysalis looked very dark, then the caterpillar arrived!!  It started to open its wings and dry them.  Then at morning tea it flew out the classroom door.
How exciting!!!
Here are some photos of the chrysalis and butterfly.

Some of the children watching the butterfly fly away

The children wrote about the stages of the butterfly.
Here are some to enjoy:
