Te Reo Maori

Te Reo Maori
We are very lucky in Room 4 as each week for 30 minutes we are having Maori lessons .  We are enjoying it so much and we can't wait for next week to learn more.  Whaea Paddy is working with us.
Enjoy looking at the photos:

We went over what we discussed last week and the children remembered it so well.
Then we talked about where we come from and the children told us in Maori.  We are learning so much.

This session we went over the words in Maori for our feelings.

Then we said, "Kia Ora", which means hello, hi or thank you.

We went over the Maori alphabet again.

The children said the numbers in Maori.

We then looked at things in our classroom and said them in Maori.  We are having such a great time learning Maori.

Poetry Recital

I was very proud of all the children in Room 4.  They recited their poem in class with enthusiasm.
Thank you to all the parents as you obviously worked with your child and supported them at home.  I really appreciated it.
Two children were selected to recite their poems at the poetry recital final on Tuesday 29 August.

Enjoy listening to them:
Sophie:

Nitish:

Congratulations to both Nitish and Sophie.  Nitish came first and Sophie came second for the Year 2 age group.  We are all very proud of you both.

We had a lots of fun as the children moved to different classes to do a maths rotation.
The activities the children were involved in were:
number puzzles

Then we had a parent open morning were the parents came to see what the children are doing in mathematics.

Trip to New World

Trip to New World
We had a wonderful trip to Botany Town Centre and New World.
When we arrived we got into our small groups and had a look around the shops.  We looked at the different types of shops and found out what they sold.  We had the opportunity to draw some of the shops and write their names.  Then we went to New World and were met by the manager called Daniel.  He showed us around the produce department, butchery, seafood area, delicatessen and the bakery department.  We found out the jobs that the people do in these parts of the supermarket.
