Pointview Detectives

Pointview Detectives - Room 4

Our super Pointview detectives went around the playground to find out what was happening in our environment.
Their report was:

Jessica - Jessica introduced our super Pointview detectives.

Mayank - He told us that more children have nude food.

Sidhansh - He told us that he noticed a child pick up some rubbish and put it in the bin.  The rubbish was not even his.

Jaskaran - He told us that children are using their big lunch containers to put their lunchboxes and drink bottles in.

Harkushal - She told us that everyone at Pointview is thinking about how to keep our enviornment clean and safe.

Well done Junior school.

They got to wear cool glasses when they were giving their report.

Cultural Week - Term 3 2018

Cultural Week
What a wonderful week we had, learning about different cultures.
The year 2 students were involved in a cultural rotation.  The children visited Rooms 3, 5 and 6 to learn about a range of cultures and involve themselves in the activities.  We had so much fun.
On Friday we went to assembly where we celebrated lots of different cultures.  The students came to school dressed in their cultural costumes or colours from their culture.

Math-Whizz Trial

Math-Whizz Trial

The children in Room 4 are trialling Math-Whizz until week 4 in Term 4.
Each student has their own username and password.  They began by doing an online assessment.  Some students from Year 6 came into our room to help the students get into the programme.
Math-Whizz adapts to each child's individual needs and delivers lessons in line with their unique pace of learning.  It provides lessons at the appropriate level of difficulty based upon prior performance.  Each topic is covered with one learning objective at a time.  Most learning objectives come with three-layered support:
1 A teaching page (which introduces the concept)
2 An interactive exercise (with help built in)
3 A test (to check for understanding)
The students were so excited about the programme and they are very keen to work on it both at school and at home.

Pirate Day at Point View School - Wednesday 19 September

Pirate Day at Point View School - Wednesday 19 September

What a great day we had.  We all dressed up like pirates and spoke like pirates.
We did folk dancing in our pirate costumes!  The children made paper bag pirate puppets and had a great time making them.  After morning tea we went to the hall and had a pirate parade.  Mr Kirkham went on stage and he walked the plank!!  Each class got to walk on stage and show their amazing pirate colours.  Then we made some treasure maps in the classroom.  After that we sang some pirate songs and read some pirate books.  Then we designed Dashing Danny Diamond, the pirate.
