Floating and Sinking

In term 3 the students have been working on the inquiry topic floating and sinking.  We have discussed the word density and have experimented with a range of objects to see if they floated or sank.  We designed our own soap power boat and it moved from one side of the container to the other.  We designed boats out of plasticine and boats out of cardboard and foil.  We then tested them to see how many marbles they could carry before the boat sank.  We also created our own catamaran, recycling two plastic bottles.

Drama with Mrs Oldham - Tuesday 8 August

Drama with Mrs Oldham - Tuesday 8 August

Today the students enjoyed drama with Mrs Oldham.  They worked on the story The Three Billy Goats Gruff.  They had a wonderful day reading the story and joining in with parts of the story.  The children made their own puppet and in groups they created a puppet show based on the story and performed it to the class.  There were opportunities for the children to work together and explore their own learning pathways.
