Maori lessons from Whaea Paddy
In term 3 we have started Maori language lessons from Whaea Paddy.  The chidlren loved working with her and certainly learned alot.
Session 1:
The first lesson she worked on Maori greetings, feelings, numbers, the Maori alphabet and colours.


















Sesson 2:
Whaea Paddy revised feelings - Kei te pehea koe?  The children responded Kei te ________ hou.
She went over the 15 letter sounds of the Maori alphabet and counting up to ten in Maori.
Then the children learned some words in Maori that related to what we have in our classroom.

Session 3
We revised our feelings
Kei te poeha koe?
Kei te _________ ahau
We went over the alphabet in Maori
Counted to ten in Maori
Focus on names of items in our classroom and said them in Maori
We leaned about directions - up, down inside and outside and used rakau sticks to show the correct direction
We learned about other items in the classroom and said them in Maori












Session 4
We learned a new waiata called E Hara.
We reviewed our feelings in Maori
We said Kia Ora to our friends which means hello or thank you
We went over the Maori alphabet
We learned about Te (one)  and Nga (more than one)
We listened to the sound from a shell - a putatara - it sounded like the beach
We watched a video of a Maori group that Whaea Paddy is in
