Book Week

Monday 29 April
Today we went to see Stu Duval in our hall.  Stu writes books and he loves to draw, especially cartoons.
He told us about a new book that he has written called 'The Legend of Captain Black Custard'.  It is about a pirate called Captain Black Custard and he hated treasure.  He had a pirate ship called the Apple Tart.  He didn't have swords, he had spoons and he searched the world with his crew, searching for puddings and recipes.  They landed in a bay with huge kauri trees and they had to find a hollow tree where Lamington Lil lived.  She made lamingtons and Captain Black Custard wanted to taste her cooking and get her recipe for lamingtons.
This book has just been released.
Enjoy looking at the pictures of Stu Duval telling the story.

30/4/19
Today we visited Stu Duval in the hall again.  He is very good at drawing cartoons and he showed the children how to do this.  They all worked with Stu and drew the parts after he showed them.  The children were very proud of their work and so was the teacher.

Today June Pitman-Hayes came to school and she is an author.  She also loves to sing.  She told us that books are like magic.  She has written a book called, 'Kia Ora, You can be a kiwi too'.  She read this book to us and we sang parts of the story with her.

3/5/19
Today we had a book week parade.  The children came to school dressed as their favourite book character and we went to the hall.  Each class got to go on stage and wave to the audience.
