Today Room 4 went to visit our buddy class and did did some amazing maths with them.
Each buddy was given a number board and the students talked about a game that they could make from this. Dice, counters and paper were provided if they needed them.
Here is a picture of the game board they were given:
We discussed some of the games the students designed:
*have a target number - choose a starting place - add that number and continue until you get to the target number
*have a target number - if you land on a blue circle you add the number to the current number - if it goes over the target number you are out - you need to think where to go on the board
*have a target number - if you land on a blue circle you can add or subtract
*start on any number and move to a new number - add the number
*have a target number - if you land on a blue circle - shake two dice e.g 5 and 1 can be 51 or 15 - add or take the number away
* roll the dice - have a set of rules for every number - follow the instructions
An excellent game that provides lots of conversation.
