Technolgy with Mr Rankin - 30/5/17

Technolgy with Mr Rankin - 30/5/17
Today the children worked with Mr Rankin and the support of some parents.  They worked with wood, cut the shapes, sanded them smooth and then put them into a game with their faces on it.
They made the game 'Guess Who'.  We can't wait to use it.

Mrs Parr's Farewell Assembly

30/5/17
What an amazing assembly we had for Mrs Parr.
We had the cultural groups present items, Grant Webster our Board Chairperson spoke, our Year 6 Choir and Ukelele Group presented an item and a student played the piano.  Mrs Parr spoke to the students and talked about how proud she is of our school.  At the end of the assembly some students presented Mrs Parr with flowers and a book which each class organised a special page for her.
Here are some photos of the assembly for you to enjoy:

Visitor from the ASB Bank

Callum from the ASB Bank came to talk to the children in Room 4 today.
He showed them large pictures of the coins and notes and the children put them in order.  Callum told the children a story about Kashin and Larry.  The main message in the story was needs and wants.  Callum showed the children some pictures of things we need and want and the children had to decide if they were a need or a want.  He told them a story about Kashin and his marbles.  The message in this story was about putting your money in a safe place like the bank.
All the children passed their super hero training and they were given a bracelet to wear.
Please talk to you family about what you did today.  Here are some photos to help you when you talk about our visit:

Visit from St John - 12/5/17

We had a visit from St John today.
Nicolai talked about what the ambulance service does to help the community.  She also talked about what the police and fire service do as well.  We looked at some pictures and decided which group would come to help.  We found out all about what the inside of an ambulance looks like.  Then Hayley and Ethan dressed up as St John ambulance people .  They had brightly coloured jackets on, Hayley had gloves on and Ethan had a helmet on.  Then we pretended Katherine had hurt herself on her skateboard and Hayley and Ethan put bandages on her.
Share some inforamtion about the ambulance service with your family.  Here are some pictures to help you:
